NHM employees’ strike enters seventh day in Nagarkurnool

Routine healthcare services across primary health centers and community hospitals in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district experienced continued disruption on Monday as the indefinite strike by National Health Mission contractual employees reached its seventh consecutive day. Protesting personnel, including staff nurses, medical laboratory technicians, and auxiliary workers, organized a peaceful demonstration outside district administrative offices to press for job regularization.

Employee union leaders reiterated their longstanding demands, which include wage parity with regular state health department employees, implementation of provident fund benefits, and permanent service tenure after years of uninterrupted public healthcare delivery. Demonstrators stressed that despite performing essential duties during health crises and routine immunization programs, contractual workers remain burdened with low wages and job insecurity.

District medical authorities mobilized substitute medical staff and trainee personnel to prevent essential immunization drives and emergency patient care services from being severely compromised in rural mandals. Senior district administrative officials held preliminary discussions with union representatives, appealing to the protesting healthcare workers to resume emergency hospital duties while formal policy deliberations continue with the state government.
