Protests Flare in Albania Against Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner Luxury Resort Plan

Thousands of Albanians protested in the streets this week against a proposed luxury resort development backed by Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner on a protected island. Demonstrators said the project would damage an ecologically sensitive area and benefit foreign investors over local communities.

The resort plan has drawn opposition from environmental groups and residents who argue the island’s protected status should preclude large-scale commercial development. Protesters marched through the capital and coastal towns carrying signs denouncing the venture.

Trump and Kushner have pursued real estate projects internationally since leaving the White House. The Albanian government has not finalized approvals for the island development.

Opposition lawmakers called for greater transparency about the terms of any agreement with the American investors. The protests reflect broader unease in Albania over foreign ownership of prized natural sites.
