Unable to solve Punjab leadership tangle, AICC sends 3 observers to get local pulse

The All India Congress Committee dispatched three senior observers to Punjab Friday after failing to resolve persistent leadership disputes between rival state factions.

The observers will conduct closed-door meetings with legislators, district presidents and allied groups to gauge support for competing chief ministerial claims.

High command delays have paralyzed decision-making on organizational posts and candidate selection for local bodies.

Faction leaders publicly traded accusations of sabotage while privately lobbying central negotiators for favorable terms.

Party workers warned that prolonged uncertainty could weaken Congress ahead of possible snap elections against a consolidated AAP and BJP challenge.
